Nessa Knows
That Tesla is a brand not a specific car. So although it would be more accurate to say the Tesla Model-S everywhere in her article, she just said the Tesla because there's only one car you can get right now anyway.

Yesterday in Physics
Colin Garon actually finished a pun I was making. Gravity also took a break, F became ma2, and the test on Potential Energy was easy and everyone finished on time. Just kidding, none of that happened.

Tesla Takeover
By Nessa Garcia (DU Car Enthusiast)
Dear all other electric/hybrid cars: your 15 minutes of fame are up.   Unfortunately, a newer, more sleek electric car now serves as the paragon of its race. While those sassy Priuses (Prii?) and bold Chevy Volts will still dominate the roads, the Tesla model, as of recent, rules above them all.
As a proud Chevy Volt owner who actively brags about not paying for gas, I refused to come to terms about the Tesla for a while. First of all, the Tesla certainly is not yet accessible to the majority of the population. More blatantly, the pricing of this car starts at a hefty $70,000 (a little more than two years at Bishop’s ;) ). But then, due to curiosity and a massive crush on Elon Musk, I began to look more into the car. Don’t get me misunderstood, I’ve mostly considered cars as simple methods of transportation and I’ve consistently had to ask my friends what brand certain “alien-looking” cars—my personal identification of a luxury car—are. Still, the Tesla, due to its frequent spot in the media, has captured my interest.
Personally, the coolest feature of a Tesla is that it has a range of 300 miles per charge. Oh yeah, and it can be charged virtually anywhere. If that isn’t extremely threatening to oil companies and gas stations, I don’t know what is. Without getting too political, I hope we can all agree that this is a good thing. However, recent videos of Teslas catching on fire due to various battery malfunctions have raised reasonable questions about the car’s safety. In one video, the cameraman can be heard saying “Oh ****! That’s a Tesla!”, showing his surprise that such a car would be engulfed in flames. Despite throwing off Tesla’s stock, I would argue that Mr. Musk—I mean—the car, is still doing just fine.
In efforts to avoid sounding like a Tesla spokesperson, I think its important to discuss how inescapable the brand has become. A few weeks ago, on a trip to UTC where I planned to eat Thai food, I noticed that Tesla had its own store. While it isn’t unusual for car brands to have stores, the Tesla store was placed in between two apparel stores, painstakingly trying to blend in with common consumerism. That being said, the store was crowded with people, all of whom eyed the model Tesla with reverence and wonder. All hail the Tesla.
Even if you hadn’t seen the store, you must have heard Tesla in the news, and if this is still not the case, you’re hearing about it now.  A Tesla, for now, is currently that refined piece of technology that the public is aware of, yet can’t fully grasp due to costs; the solar paneling of the next five years. Perhaps, when Musk eventually lowers the pricing of his innovation, more people will be able to experience the benefits of a cleaner ride as opposed to just staring at it.
